Robert

Robert Duvall giving a show of interpretation. Having already won an Oscar (in 1984) and being nominated for the seventh time for a statuette, this time as supporting actor, I wouldn't be surprised if he takes this. He really deserves, although the film has no other indication, which ends up reducing his chances. But it's a very good movie that could have been indicated instead of American Sniper.
Hank Palmer (Robert Downey Jr.) is a successful lawyer, who is in the process of divorce from his wife Carla (Leighton Meester) and who returns to his hometown for the funeral of his mother. He doesn't have a good relationship with his father, Judge Joseph Palmer (Duvall), but needs to support the family at that time. On the day of the funeral, Joseph becomes involved in a fatal accident and ends up having to answer to a criminal prosecution. This unites father and son, because Hank ends up guiding the defense attorney of his father (Dax Shepard), but does not reduce the conflicts. Between one session and another in the Forum, Joseph ends up getting involved with a case of his adolescence, Sam (Vera Farmiga).
The film brings the family conflicts, trial scenes, drama, thriller and comedy, in a well-seasoned mixture yielding 2:20 of duration, but without tiring or boring. Well worth checking out.
