Demorei para escrever sobre esse show, mas finalmente saiu a resenha. O encontro do baixista do Barão com o guitarrista do The Police que assisti no Teatro Oi Casagrande no dia 17 desse mês foi sensacional. O melhor de cada uma das bandas, começando com os sucessos do Barão e depois desfiando os sucessos do Police.

Na primeira parte do show, Andy não participou, mas Rodrigo contou com Kadu Menezes na bateria e Fernando Magalhães na guitarra, desfilando por “Maior Abandonado”, “Puro Êxtase” (com País Tropical como musica incidental), “Por Que a Gente é Assim”, “Bete Balanço” (em que Rodrigo chamou seu filho para uma canja no palco, tocando seu baixo), “Exagerado”, “Por Você” e “Pro Dia Nascer Feliz”. Então, Fernando Magalhães deixou o palco e entrou Andy Summers para a segunda parte. Começaram com “Roxanne” e seguiram com “Walking On The Moon”, “So Lonely”, “Synchronicity II”, então, com a volta de Fernando ao palco e a participação especial de Frejat rolaram “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic”, “Message In a Bottle” e “Every Breath You Take”.

Frejat estava meio perdido, rouco, errava as letras (mesmo com elas impressas em frente) e também perdia o momento de entrar nos versos, mas Rodrigo segurava a onda com competência e conseguia manter a ordem na casa. Eles tiveram pouco tempo pro ensaio, então é normal isso acontecer mesmo, ficou até engraçado. Aliás, o bom mesmo é que o rock permite muitos improvisos e nessa noite, estavam todos de olho nos solos de guitarra e baixo. E nisso, a parceria funcionou muito bem. Me surpreendi com a voz de Rodrigo, que nas canções do Police lembravam e muito a do líder da banda inglesa, Sting. 

Outro momento interessante do show foi quando Rodrigo chamou seu filho Leo para o acompanhar em Bete Balanço. Por mais que o jovem estivesse nervoso, seu pai estava muito mais. Estava preocupado, lambendo a cria em sua primeira aparição nos palcos ao lado do pai. Divertido ver Rodrigo num misto de alegria e tensão. O melhor de tudo foi ver a casa lotada com ingressos esgotados e muita gente barrada do lado de fora. Sinal de que o bom rock’n’roll continua tendo espaço no mercado, o que me deixa ainda mais entusiasmado. Viva a música de qualidade.Aproveito pra elogiar também a iluminação, que foi fundamental para promover a mudança de nuances em cada música apresentada. Show de bola!

Esse show foi o quinto de uma série de apresentações que começaram na semana anterior, dentro do Projeto Inusitado, que rola sempre na Cidade das Artes, com parcerias e apresentações fora do comum (inusitadas, como diz o próprio nome do projeto). Lá, foram duas apresentações, contando ainda com Roberto Menescal. O segundo dia de show foi transmitido ao vivo pelo Canal BIS e vi de casa, me remoendo por não ter ido conferir ao vivo. Ainda bem que eles fizeram outros shows e pude conferir na segunda feira. Eles também passaram por São Paulo, pra turma da terra da garoa poder se deleitar.

E qual o resultado dessa parceria? Acredito que ainda virão outros shows dessa dupla, pois o próprio Rodrigo deixou isso no ar no final da apresentação. Além disso, li em algum jornal online que os dois já estão trabalhando em canções inéditas. OBA!!! Vamos esperar pra ver!

It took me some time  to write about this show, but finally came out the review. The meeting  of Barão Vermelho’s bassist with The Police’s guitarist for those who watched it at the Teatro Oi Casagrande last 17^th this month was sensational. The best of each one of the bands, starting with the successes from  Barão and then those from  The Police.

In the first part of the show, Andy did not participate, but Rodrigo featured Kadu Menezes on drums and Fernando Magalhães on guitar, playing “Maior Abandonado”, “Puro Êxtase” (with a jam of País Tropical), “Por Que a Gente é Assim”, “Bete Balanço” (in which Rodrigo called his son to a participation on stage, playing his bass), “Exagerado”, “Por Você” and “Pro Dia Nascer Feliz”. Then, Fernando Magalhães left the stage and Andy Summers joined for the second part. They began with “Roxanne” followed by “Walking On The Moon”, “So Lonely”, “Synchronicity II”, and then, with the return of Ferdinand on stage and the special participation of Frejat rolled “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic”, “Message In a Bottle” and “Every Breath You Take".

Frejat was kind of lost, hoarse, missed the lyrics (even with them printed in front of him) and also lost the time to enter in some verses, but Rodrigo showed competence and sustained his friend. They had little time to rehearsal, so it is normal things like this to happen, it was even funny. In fact, the real thing is that rock allows many improvisations and that night, all eyes were on guitar and bass solos. And based on that, the partnership worked very well. I was surprised with the voice of Rodrigo when singing  The Police songs he really reminded the leader of the British band, Sting.

Another interesting moment of the show was when Rodrigo called his son Leo to accompany him in “Bete Balanço”. As much as the young man was nervous, his father was much more. He was concerned about his son’s first appearance on stage next to him. Fun to see Rodrigo in a mixture of joy and tension. Best of all, was seeing the theater sold-out and crowded with a lot of people left  outside. Sign that the good rock 'n' roll still has space on the market, which makes me even more excited. Long live the quality music. I would like to commend also the lighting, which was very important in promoting the changes of rhythm in each song presented. Fantastic!

This show was the fifth in a series of presentations that began in the previous week, within the project “Inusitado”, that always rolls in “Cidade das Artes”, with partnerships and unusual presentations (“Unusual” is the name of the project). There were two presentations, counting also with Roberto Menescal. The second day of show was broadcast live on Channel BIS and watched it at home, chewing over me for not going check out live. I'm glad they did other shows and could confer it on Monday. They have also presented at Sao Paulo, for people from the rainy city delight.

And what the result of this partnership? I believe there are yet to come other shows of this couple since Rodrigo himself left it in the air at the end of the presentation. In addition, I read in some online newspaper that the two are already working on new songs. WOW!!! Let's wait and see!
